The Automatic Stay
All chapters of bankruptcy provide the benefits of the automatic stay. The automatic stay stops all collection activities during the bankruptcy process, including creditor harassment. In addition, your creditors will no longer be allowed garnish your wages.
The automatic stay also prevents lien holders and lenders from repossessing vehicles, seizing collateral and filing or foreclosing on liens.
