End Creditor Harassment

Helping People Stop Creditor Harassment in the St. Louis Area

People who are struggling to pay the bills often wait too late to get help. If you are unable to make payments, your creditors may think you are avoiding your obligations and may turn your account over to their attorneys. However, if you file for bankruptcy earlier, you may avoid this stage.

Individuals and businesses can end creditor harassment by filing for bankruptcy. If creditors are calling you at home and work, sending threatening letters or showing up at your door, there is help available. Rochelle D. Stanton Attorney at Law can assist you with creditor harassment and bankruptcy. For a free consultation with our experienced bankruptcy lawyer, please call 314-262-4390 or contact us online.

The Automatic Stay

All chapters of bankruptcy provide the benefits of the automatic stay. The automatic stay stops all collection activities during the bankruptcy process, including creditor harassment. In addition, your creditors will no longer be allowed garnish your wages.

The automatic stay also prevents lien holders and lenders from repossessing vehicles, seizing collateral and filing or foreclosing on liens. With secured debt, such as a mortgage or car loan, the lien holder or lender has the right to repossess the collateral when the debtor is no longer making the loan payments. The lender or lien holder will repossess the property and sell it to recover its financial losses. However, when a bankruptcy is in progress, creditors are not allowed to do this.

If lenders violate the regulations governing bankruptcy and the automatic stay, we may be able to take action against them. To make an appointment with a Missouri creditor harassment attorney, please call 314-262-4390. Your consultation is free.
